Health Certificates
Health Certificates
Pet Health Certificates are required for pets traveling both domestically within the United States and internationally. We are happy to assist you with your pet’s Health Certificate when traveling. Be aware that international travel may require more time in preparation for your destination country’s requirements before your departure.
A domestic Health Certificate needs to be issued within 10 days of travel and is good for 30 days from the date of issue.
Start planning at least two months in advance for domestic travel and four months in advance for international travel and/or Hawaii. If Rabies titers are required, i.e. Hawaii, Australia, etc. it is likely that you may need more time for planning and testing.
What do I need to do to make travel plans for my pet?
If you are traveling by car, you should carry your pet’s vaccine history, their most current Rabies Certificate and a veterinarian issued pet Health Certificate that includes information about their most recent wellness exam.
If you are planning to fly, research the specific airline you plan to use. Some airlines have their own requirements while others defer to those issued by the destination state or country.
Important questions to ask your airline might include:
What are your pet travel policies?
Do you offer cargo fleet space for large pets? Will this affect which flights I can book?
Are small pets allowed in the cabin area?
Do you have specific pet carrier requirements?
What is your pickup and drop off policy for pets?
How do you handle layovers when there are pets on board?
When you schedule your appointment with us, we will be asking you the following questions:
What are your dates of travel?
Will you be dropping the pet off at the departure airport and picking up the pet at the destination airport?
If your departure address is a P.O. Box, we cannot use that information on the Health Certificate. We will ask you for your physical address.
What is the address you will be traveling to?
Is this travel for permanent or temporary reasons?
